How will this be produced?
I am currently an artist-in-residence at Flower City Arts Center in the Printmaking & Book Arts department. I am using the resources of this department, along with my own studio, to print & produce physical copies of this book. This will be done by (primarily) risograph printing and hand-binding. I would love to experiment with other printing and bookmaking techniques as well. This book will be as much an art object as it is utilitarian, similarly to a traditional Book of Hours.
When will this be produced?
I am a resident at Flower City until fall of 2024, so ideally I will finish by the end of my residency. I am planning to have a book launch potluck instead of a gallery show.
What types of submissions are you looking for?
I am looking for skills to share or artworks, poetry, or documentable media that fits the theme of "imagining a future beyond capitalism." Is there something you do that empowers you beyond the labor-industrial complex? Do you garden? Do you make art? Do you mend clothes? Do you engage with a mutual aid group? Any skill or hobby that you engage with, that grounds you within your community or makes you feel empowered in the face of systematic socio-economic failures, is welcome here. We can make it work.
